Intimate Chism Beach Wedding // Dug and Kerry

Intimate Chism Beach Wedding // Dug and Kerry

Dug & Kerry chose to host their wedding in a local Bellevue park so that all their friends could attend within the restrictions in place. They had custom masks made for all of their guests and individually boxed cupcakes available for guests to take home with them! They were so respectful of their guests while trying to keep a sense of normalcy for their big day.

Kerry Park Engagement Session // Dani & Michelle

Kerry Park Engagement Session // Dani & Michelle

Dani & Michelle were supposed to be married by now but thanks to that thing they chose to reschedule to 2021, and then 2022 so they could have the wedding they wanted to. But since so much time had passed since their first engagement session, they decided to do a second engagement session at Kerry Park so that their final wedding invitations could include their newest family member!

How I protect your photos with backups and backups and backups!

How I protect your photos with backups and backups and backups!

It might not be a question you think you should ask a wedding photographer, or any kind of photographer really, during your consult but one you probably should: how are you backing up my photos?

For wedding photography especially you are spending a lot of money to get the end images and while yes it is somewhat your responsibility to backup the photos yourself, any photographer worth their salt should be backing up clients photos for years to come. Things happen, and when a client comes back to you and you still have their images, it will make their day. If you don’t, it will ruin yours.

Sunkissed Carkeek Park Engagement Session // Karissa + Logan

Sunkissed Carkeek Park Engagement Session // Karissa + Logan

I first met Karissa and Logan back in 2019 at Karissa’s sister Kayla’s wedding that I captured. A few months after Kayla & Tanner said I Do, Karissa reached out to me to see if I could capture her wedding, of course I said yes! Unfortunately then 2020 got in the way and they had to postpone their wedding but we still wanted to capture their engagement session while we were having the beautiful fall weather we had last year.

Lakeside Yelm Couple Session // Mike & Josh

Lakeside Yelm Couple Session // Mike & Josh

I was originally set to capture Mike & Josh’s wedding in September in Tacoma but then 2020 happened and they decided to forego a wedding and elope just themselves in Vegas. I wasn’t able to get there due to travel restrictions but they decided they still wanted to do couple photos here at their new home in Yelm

JM Cellars Intimate Winter Elopement // Kennedy & Eby

JM Cellars Intimate Winter Elopement // Kennedy & Eby

Kennedy & Eby’s intimate elopement at JM Cellars ended up being my last wedding of the year in 2020 and it was so fitting in all the best ways. Due to Kennedy’s job they had to be very strict with the contact rules which meant everyone had to wear a mask anytime they were within 6 feet of the wedding couple. Obviously this meant we had to adapt to take some photos without masks but even the ones with people wearing masks you can feel their love for Kennedy and Eby coming through the fabric.

Puyallup Backyard Wedding // Bethany & Phil

In the year 2020, every wedding blog probably has something related to COVID within its story, and Bethany & Phil’s day is unfortunately no different! But these two took the situation and they ran with it to create something beautifully unique and completely theirs.

Which wedding traditions to honor on your wedding day

Which wedding traditions to honor on your wedding day

Wedding traditions are an odd thing. If you’re already married, you might be wondering why you did certain things on your day. If you’re planning a wedding, you might wonder which you should include. Below I’ve listed the most popular wedding traditions, where they originated and whether I think you should include them in your day. Now remember, these are all based on my own opinions so if you choose to include something I say dump, I won’t be offended. A wedding day is a very personal thing and should be treated as such

Beautiful Backyard Wedding // Jay & Josh

Beautiful Backyard Wedding // Jay & Josh

I think many people would have a Debbie downer of a day if they had to downsize their wedding due to COVID and then days before it had to downsize again because of wildfires. But you’d never have known that the wedding they had was anything but their original plan if you saw Jay & Josh’s faces on their wedding day. The entire day they both had smiles plastered on their faces and let nothing get them down.

Richmond Beach Engagement Session // Jay & Josh

Richmond Beach Engagement Session // Jay & Josh

I think Jay & Josh can best be summed up by this story: I told them to walk away from me and then for Jay to lead Josh back to me by the hand. She took this to mean she was leading him like the witch leading Hanzel & Gretel to her house in the woods, complete with creepy walk and laugh. It had us all busting up with laughter because I did not expect it at all. But that is them to a tee, they’re always laughing, always smiling, never serious and they fit together so beautifully because of it.

Jeep-tastic Rosario Beach Engagement Session // Jess & Caroline

Jeep-tastic Rosario Beach Engagement Session // Jess & Caroline

When I suggested to Jess & Caroline that we do their engagement session at Rosario Beach, I expected a little pushback because it is a good ways away from Seattle. Turns out during the pandemic they moved to Whidbey Island so it was onlt about 15 miles from them! Talk about serendipity!

Seattle Sunset Elopement // Marjorie and David

Seattle Sunset Elopement // Marjorie and David

Marjorie and David were originally supposed to get married on June 20 with all their family & friends, but then COVID happened. I feel like I could just copy & paste that for all my blog posts the next few months. It sounds like they were downsizing but actually the day of, it seemed like the most natural thing in the world for it to be just the two of them speaking their truths to each other.

Why you should make time for sunset photos on your wedding day

Why you should make time for sunset photos on your wedding day

I’m a wedding photographer so I’m always going to push for the maximum time spent with you on your day getting you beautiful, candid wedding photos. But I also know your wedding day isn’t all about me. So the one time of day I really push for getting photos (other than the first look which you should read all about here) is sunset photos.
