Pitbull Family Session // Bane & His Family

A few months ago I was mindlessly scrolling through Facebook when a post by The Seattle Barkery stopped me in my tracks. It was a photo of two dogs staring at a pupcake.

The photo was cute, but it was the story behind it that had me bawling at my keyboard.

Hello,
My name is Jewel! My dogs Bane (black cane corso) and Diesel (little grey hippo pittie) celebrated their 1 day and 3 year apart birthdays today. So we stopped by reber ranch and picked up one of your birthday cakes and the boys LOVED it! What makes this birthday extra special aside from Bane hitting one, is that a couple months ago he was also diagnosed with heart failure. The doctors say he won’t make it past a few more months so this will be the first and last birthday these two brothers share together so we just wanted to say Thank you for making these amazing treats for our fur-babies!!

I lost a young dog at the end of 2016 and I have no photos of the two of us together, so whenever I hear about these kinds of situations I try my best to gift a session to them in Kirby’s honor. Thankfully through the power of social media I was able to connect with Jewel, Bane’s mom, and get a session set up at a local park.

When the day came, the day after Memorial Sunday of all days, I was a nervous wreck because I wanted to give these people images they would cherish but I was scared my emotions would get the better of me. Thankfully I was able to power through with only a couple tears shed and getting to spend time with Bane and see his bond with his family was amazing.
