There’s something truly special about a wedding day that brings together meaningful traditions, family, and plenty of unforgettable moments. David and Allison’s late-August wedding at Imperia at Lake Union in Seattle was the perfect example. Located just minutes from downtown Seattle, this beautiful wedding venue provided a wonderful setting for a day filled with love, laughter, and meaningful Jewish wedding traditions.
As a Seattle wedding photographer, I love documenting weddings that reflect each couple’s personalities and the things that matter most to them. David and Allison’s celebration was full of thoughtful details and moments that made their wedding uniquely theirs.
Getting Ready and a First Look
The day began with David and Allison getting ready separately at Imperia at Lake Union. Having both of them prepare at the venue made for a relaxed start to the day and gave us plenty of opportunities to capture those final moments before they saw each other.
Next came their first look! After spending the morning apart, they finally got to see each other dressed for their wedding day. It was a wonderful opportunity to slow down, enjoy a private moment together, and take in the excitement of everything ahead.
After their first look, we headed to nearby Fairview park for family portraits and wedding party photos. Getting these photos finished before the ceremony allowed everyone to spend more time celebrating once the reception began.
A Meaningful Jewish Wedding Ceremony
Before the ceremony, David and Allison participated in the signing of their Ketubah, a traditional Jewish marriage contract. With their parents there to bless their marriage, it was an especially meaningful moment and a beautiful way to begin their wedding ceremony.
Although their wedding wasn't held in a temple, they invited a Rabbi to officiate and incorporated meaningful Jewish wedding customs into their celebration.
Their ceremony was heartfelt and personal, bringing together their families and friends to witness the beginning of their marriage.
Dinner, Toasts, and the Hora!
Following the ceremony, everyone gathered for a plated dinner reception catered by Imperia at Lake Union. Once guests had enjoyed their meal, both of their dads took turns giving heartfelt toasts. These speeches were filled with love, laughter, and well wishes for the newlyweds.
David and Allison then shared their first dance as a married couple before transitioning into two special parent dances. Allison danced with her dad, while David shared a dance with his mom.
Then it was time for one of the biggest highlights of the evening: the Hora!
The music started, guests formed circles on the dance floor, and David and Allison were each lifted into the air on chairs as everyone danced around them. The energy in the room was incredible! It was the perfect way to bring their families and friends together before opening the dance floor for the rest of the night.
From there, the celebration continued with dancing, laughter, and plenty of memories. Blue Wave Band kept the dancefloor packed the entire night!
