Wandering Waters Farm Wedding, Maple Falls Washington // Elizabeth & James

When I did Elizabeth & James’ engagement session, I had just gotten off a 16 hour travel day home from Thailand. After only a couple hours home I headed out to Point Defiance State Park to meet them and they were amazing! Needless to say I was very excited to capture their wedding day.

To get to Wandering Waters was about two hours door to door from my house and after getting off I-5 the road became so picturesque and it only became better once I arrived. Nestled right next to the Cascade mountain range in the middle of nowhere (in the best way possible), Wandering Waters Farm is about as picturesque a wedding venue as you’re likely to find in Washington State.

We started right away with Elizabeth and James’ first look. The location they chose was a gorgeous little clearing in amongst the trees, full of native trees and greenery. Elizabeth snuck up on James and he turned to see her for the first time with tears in his eyes. After they’d had their private moment, family joined us for the family photos and what a perfectly dressed family they were!

Elizabeth & James were very conscious of their decision of where they wanted to have the ceremony, they both wanted to feel connected to nature and that’s exactly what they got with the ceremony space at Wandering Waters. In the middle of a huge field, surrounded by trees and with views of the Cascade mountains, Elizabeth and James tied the knot in front of their family and friends. With friend Tom officiating, Elizabeth & James had their friends and family form a rock circle and read out poems written by James. There were poems for each of the compass points of the circle: North, East, South and West and they were all beautiful.

After the ceremony the couple had dinner catered by the delicious COA Mexican eatery out of Mount Vernon and then had cakes made by Elizabeths sister for dessert. Once food had settled down, the dancing was kicked off with Elizabeth & James’ first dance to the tune of The God of Loss by Darlingside. Once they’d danced with each other and their parent dances, the dance floor was opened to all, and quickly filled up!

Before they got too into the dancing I snuck them away for some sunset photos back at the ceremony site now it was empty of chairs. Once we’d had a little bit of time in nature, the happy couple returned to their family & friends on the dance floor and boogied the night away
