Sierra & Nicole's Fall Engagement Session at the Washington Arboretum | Seattle Engagement Photographer
There’s something especially magical about Seattle in the fall. The changing leaves, crisp morning air, and softer golden light create the perfect backdrop for engagement photos. Sierra and Nicole’s engagement session at the Washington Arboretum was the perfect reminder of why autumn is one of my favorite seasons to photograph couples in the Pacific Northwest.
As a Seattle Engagement Photographer, I’m always looking for locations that offer a mix of natural beauty and variety, and the Washington Arboretum is one of those places that never disappoints. With colorful foliage, quiet walking paths, and peaceful gardens, it gave us an incredible setting for a relaxed morning together.
We met shortly after sunrise as the city was still waking up. Fall mornings in Seattle have a unique atmosphere: calm, cool, and quiet. The early light filtered through the trees and created a soft glow around Sierra and Nicole as we wandered through the gardens and pathways together.
One of my favorite parts of photographing engagement sessions is getting to know couples before the wedding day. Sierra and Nicole were so natural together. Whether they were laughing between prompts, holding hands while walking under the trees, or simply sharing quiet moments together, their connection felt effortless. Those genuine interactions are always the moments I love capturing most.
As a Seattle Couples Photographer, my goal during every session is to create an experience that feels relaxed and authentic. I never want couples to feel stiff or overly posed. Instead, I want photos that reflect who you are together and the little moments that make your relationship unique.
I believe every couple deserves to feel completely comfortable and celebrated in front of the camera.
As a Seattle LGBTQ Photographer, creating an inclusive experience where couples can fully be themselves is incredibly important to me. Love stories come in many forms, and documenting them authentically is one of the things I value most about this work.
The Washington Arboretum offered so many beautiful backdrops throughout the morning. Vibrant reds, warm yellows, towering trees, and quiet corners all gave us opportunities to create images that felt romantic and natural while embracing the beauty of the season.
The best part? This is only the beginning of Sierra and Nicole’s story. I’ll be photographing their wedding later this fall here in Seattle, and after spending the morning with them during their engagement session, I’m even more excited for their wedding day. Getting to document these chapters of a couple’s journey, from engagement to wedding day, is always such an honor.
