Pride Cake Smash!

Pride Cake Smash!

With all the ugliness surrounding the Supreme Court's decision in the cake baker case I decided I wanted to do something positive to counter it. So I cooked up a plan with some friends and enlisted the magic baking hands of South Fork Cake Co who made the most amazing cake I think I've ever seen. My good friends Alex & Chad then proceeded to smash it into each others faces in the most adorable way.

What a difference a year makes.

What a difference a year makes.

One year. 365 days. 525,600 minutes. How do you measure a year?

One year ago I brought home my first ever dog. Yes he was Tim’s also but he was the first dog I’d ever had that was mine. I was so happy. I didn’t think my heart could contain my love for him. Which is why it hurt all the more less than two months later when it broke.

been in Spain for the past 8 days. First was 4 days in Barcelona and then 4 days in Alicante. Barcelona was the "do things" part and Alicante was the "do nothing" part and they both fulfilled their tasks dutifully. Now I have to leave 80 degree sunsoaked weather tomorrow to head back to 60 and rainy weather in Seattle.

One of the things I wanted to do to honor my pup Kirby who passed away last year was to work with a rescue organisation in his name. To that end I've been working with Forgotten Dogs Rescue for the past six months, attending their adoption events and also doing one on one portrait sessions with some of their pups.

One of the things I said I'd do in my quest to "be the person your dog thinks you are" is to volunteer with a local shelter or rescue. When we were in touch about adopting a dog from them I also asked Forgotten Dogs Rescue if they needed any photography, since I don't have a whole lot of their skills to offer.
